Next Steps for 2022 Season

2022 NLLL Families,

The Board and I want to personally thank all of you for registering for the upcoming NLLL baseball and softball season. We are excited for the season. The below email is a bit long but we wanted to provide next steps and what to except in the coming weeks.

Next Steps for All Softball Divisions, Minors Machine Pitch, Juniors/Seniors Baseball, and Tee Ball

NO TRYOUTS REQUIRED FOR ANY OF THESE DIVISIONS

Registration will remain open into March as we are working to get as many players in these divisions as possible. The goal is for the Board to assign managers, assistant coaches, and players to teams by March 12th. (could be a little earlier). Manager communication to player families will occur shortly after that. Practices will begin the week of March 14th. Games will start around April 16th or the following week.

We will try to accommodate all requests for players to play with certain managers in these leagues. Some have reached out to me to request this and noted it on the registrations. If possible, send me an email again if you have these requests to ensure I remember and can try to accommodate.

Next Steps for Majors Baseball and Minors Player Pitch Baseball

TRYOUTS ARE REQUIRED FOR THESE TWO DIVISIONS.

The weather is not cooperating with us so tryouts are now pushed back one week and are scheduled for 1PM on March 5th. We are planning to have tryouts at our fields at 13950 York St (weather pending). We are securing an indoor location in case the weather is not good. We will let you know that week whether the tryouts will be at the fields or at this indoor location.

Tryout details:

  • Date: March 5th
  • Registration: Registration opens at 12:15. So please arrive close to then.
  • Start Time: Tryouts will start at 1:00.
  • Duration: Expect tryouts to last until 3:00.
  • What to Bring: Ensure your child brings a water bottle and glove. They are more than welcome to bring a bat and helmet but we will have several of them there if needed.
  • Location: Either our outdoor fields at 13950 York St or a TBD indoor facility.

After tryouts, we will conduct a Draft with the Managers of these teams on March 12th at 5PM at our Facility 13950 York St. Majors will be drafted first and then Minors Player Pitch.

Practices will begin the week of March 14th. Games will start around April 16th or the following week.

Managers’ and Coaches’ Clinic

NLLL is contracting with a training specialist to provide a clinic for all Managers and Assistant Coaches on Saturday March 19th at 1:00PM. This training will last roughly 2 hours and we are strongly recommending as many Managers and Assistant Coaches attend as possible. The training will go over how to create a great practice plan and then some good age-based drills for practices.  Please plan to attend if at all possible.

Umpire Training (Managers and Assistant Coaches Welcomed and Encouraged)

Our Umpire in Chief will be providing training on Little League Rules and Umpire Mechanics on the below three days (each are the exact same so only need to attend one):

  • March 27th at 1PM
  • April 3rd at 1PM
  • April 10th at 1PM

These will last roughly 2 hours. If you know anyone who is interested in umpiring ($40-$60 a game), please let me know. Managers and Coaches are welcome (and are encouraged) to attend to learn these rules and mechanics. A signup Genius is coming soon for this.

Opening Day

The Board will be planning our Opening Day Ceremonies soon. Please plan to be at our fields at 13950 York St on Saturday April 16th at 9AM. This will be a fun filled event.

Referrals

NLLL is still taking registration. If you know anyone interested in playing, refer them. If they register have them note that you referred them in the comments during registration and we will provide you a $25 referral credit.

Concession Stand

NLLL is lucky to have a concession stand which is cool for when games are played. If you volunteered to work the concession stand, we really appreciate that. We will be setting up a sign-up genius so people can register for certain dates. When working the concession stand, expect to work around 3 hours (typically 5-8 on weekdays and Saturday morning 9-12). It is a lot of fun and you will be helping NLLL a lot.

We are planning to hold a competition where the Team with the highest percentage of families volunteering will win a prize or Pizza party paid for by NLLL. Stay tuned for more details.
